Ulu Apoh 4x4 Expedition 2014
Yeap. This is our 1st SMDS 4x4 Adventure Team group offroad expedition. Not so extreme mud trail, more to overland trip and enjoying get together with friends. In total of 12 4x4 vehichles overlanding towards log camp trail of Ulu Apoh.
Above pic is our common assembly point which is in front of Dinner World Restaurant. All team member by right should be there on 8am sharp for short briefing and photo taking session. But well, as you guys know Malaysia is multi-racial country, so there's Malay time, Chinese time, Iban time, Bidayuh time and Melanau time. Last member to arrive around 8.30am. Forgot to mention, most of us just got back from tiring sleepless night shift.
Some of drivers will rotate with their co-driver to ensure enough rest for each of us.
Our planned journey towards Ulu Apoh region ( Logan Bunut-Long Lama Bazaar-Long Atip-Tenyok Waterfall-Long Bedian) rolled after refuelling and buy ice and some titbits at Shell Bandar Jaya. Rolling Rolling.
Each co-driver, they will be the communication centre for their driver. They will alert incoming cars and any car from behind that attempt to overtake. Quite useful for expedition convoy, to notify in advance of any events and hurdles. Plus, the co-driver task also becoming entertainers and joker to make the journey 'alive' and not dull the whole journey.
Made few pit stop for makan and smoke break.
Upon reaching Long Lama Bazaar, one of our member car got punctured tyre. Stopped for tyre changing and observed excellent cooperation and skillful mechanics in action.
Our first campsite is Tamalak Bridge. Wide clear, near to log roadside and water supply.
Expedition stop for camp tent set up and preparing food and barbeque.
Great camping experience!! Midnight dip in cold nature rock river stream, beer session, playing cards, and sharing ideas session. Then good rest, get ready for tomorrow's activity.
Heading to Long Bedian bazaar. Meet up with head-leader of local village for some donation for less fortunate local lead by our team chairman Mr. Vinsien Gau Jalong. Good job team!
Next the expedition heading to Tenyuk Waterfall for sight seeing.
For the last night campsite, we decide to camp at Sungai Merah. Tiring day plus heavy downpour since afternoon. Setting up camp tent, barbeque, preparing food in heavy downpour. Indeed, it's a good memories and lesson for us.
Rolled back to Bintulu the next morning. Few hurdles on my Suzuki Jimny SJ410. Wiper malfunctioned, pedal throttle cable snapped, spotlight bean blown. Team member cooperation and patience means everything. Thanks mate.
Will do organised in future. Reached Bintulu around 9pm. Yeah. SMDS BOLEH spirit!!!
